Get your legs in Mociun!

Wednesday, November 29th, 2006

I’ve been into plain black leggings lately…but how funky are these?! Love ‘em! Found them along with other great pieces at Mociun (pronounced “motion”). Caitlin Mociun, who studied textile design at the Rhode Island School of Design, draws inspiration for her prints from things like vegetables from her local grocer to things found at the Natural History Museum. Nice!

H&M Christmas Lingerie 2006

Monday, November 27th, 2006

Lovely lingerie is a the top of many Christmas wish lists, either as a special holiday gift to oneself or from someone dear. You just can’t go wrong with this year’s desirable Christmas lingerie range at H&M. Colours and fabrics are soft, sensual and luxurious, and the perfect fitting styles are fashionably retro with 20’s Oriental inspiration. French actress and mother of two Emmanuelle Béart is H&M’s Christmas 2006 lingerie model.

H&M’s winter holiday lingerie collection comprises femininity and fashion with pretty lace and shiny satin decorated with buttons, ribbons, piping and rhinestones on perfectly cut push up or soft bras, hipsters, tangas and corsets. There are 1920’s Oriental as well as Victorian influences with Asian styles, patterns and details, lace, and corset styles. Nightwear is equally glamourous with kimono, night slip and pyjamas seperates made of shiny satin.

The lingerie looks pretty nice, especially with the Asian flava, but I’m very particular about my lingerie. I will need to take a closer look in person, hopefully I can grab a few pieces. Luvin’ the corset and the satin pyjama jacket (is that what you call it haha).

H&M also updated their site featuring videos with Emmanuelle Béart wearing the lingerie. Check it out!

Phoebe Philo for Gap?

Monday, November 27th, 2006

Phoebe Philo, who last January resigned from the creative helm at Chloé, appears to have already dipped her toe back into fashion, WWD has learned. According to market sources, Philo has been quietly consulting for Gap in Europe.

Reached late Friday, a Gap spokeswoman in London said: “We’ve been working with a number of external design consultants since we moved the design team to London this summer. The only one we’re talking about publicly is Roland Mouret.”

Earlier this month, Mouret’s capsule collection of dresses arrived in 160 Gap stores in the U.K., Ireland and France, plus a handful of units in New York.

The company indicated it had pumped up its European design team to 35 people. “Design is the way forward on the high street,” Stephen Sunnucks, president of Europe, Gap Inc. International, said at the launch of the Mouret line.

It could not immediately be learned if any of Philo’s design ideas have yet landed on the sales floor of Gap stores. But the retailer’s women’s business, which has been lagging in Europe as well as the U.S., could certainly benefit from the design prowess of Philo, whose feminine dresses and coveted handbags helped catapult Chloé into fashion’s big leagues.

Philo, who has kept a low profile since exiting Chloé, could not be reached for comment. - Miles Socha, WWD

This definitely sounds far more interesting than the collab between Roland Mouret and Gap! Everyone is in luv with the Chloé Paddington Bag and Boots that Phoebe designed (I’m a proud owner of the bag), so hopefully this collab will work out with Gap and we’ll see some hot pieces on the shelves!
