Red Carpet Collection by Patricia Field for Payless

Wednesday, February 28th, 2007

patricia_field_payless.jpg

Patricia Field , famed for her styling on the hit TV show “Sex and the City “ is once again noticed for her works. She was nominated for her costume designs for “The Devil Wears Prada ” (one of my fave movies). If you luv’d the shoes that she was wearing on the red carpet for the 79th Annual Academy Awards , don’t be envy because Payless has joined hands with this brilliant stylist and for the holiday season of this year, they will release the Red Carpet Collection by Patricia Field exclusively at Payless stores. The Payless shoes are a uniquely designed platform heel with an ankle strap featuring an edgy mix of metallic and colored snake skin. The collection is intended to include handbags as well, with pricing expected at $45 and under. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens next, but I can predict this is going to be “crazy” in a good way, I luv Patricia Field!

I have to say I never saw this coming…

Payless and Field have had a close working relationship for about a year and onehalf; Field has been styling Payless TV and print ads, as well as the seasonal lifestyle signage featured in the stores. Upon hearing the news of Field’s Oscar® nomination, Payless approached her with the design project and the opportunity.

If you have followed the tradeshow curcuit in Las Vegas you would know that it feels like every year there is a new tradeshow popping up. Usually a smaller venue with smaller, up and coming brands, these off-shoot shows have given many small brands the opportunity to get there foot in the door and showcase their wears at a fraction of the cost. So, this year brought us the Fo’ Sho’ Fo’ Show! The smallest of tradeshows, showcasing about a dozen brands…Spent a bit of time at the, Japanese brand, Phenomenon Booth, were I chatted it up with Mimi and snapped some flicks of my favs for the ladies…check it!

Now the line is for the ladies but look equally as hot on the men! Androgynous clothing was a trend I saw quit a bit of at the tradeshows. Benito is wearing the Button Up Cardigan, Ribbon printed tank, Paperbag shorts and Longjohns.

Reebok 25th Freestyle Anniversary

Friday, February 23rd, 2007

reebok_freestyle_invite.jpg

Reebok celebrates the 25th Anniversary of the women’s footwear collections, the Freestyle, “Then and Now”…Freestyle Forever. Freestyle is a women’s athletic shoe style that was introduced back in 1982, it was designed for the use of aerobic exercise. The shoe quickly became a fitness craze and spreaded to walking, bodybuilding, dancing and cheerleading, but women are also wearing it outside the gym for casual wear. It is an iconic shoe in the 1980s and to this day it is still released in a variety of colors with many followers. Not only do women wear it, but I also see men wear these, I still remember seeing women pair these with skinny jeans, tights, leggings and leg warmers! And in the 90s girls that own Freestyles had every colorway to match their polos. Do any of you guys own a pair?

If I Was A Rich Girl…

“I’d buy everything, Clean out Vivienne Westwood…”

The legendary and sometimes dangerous fashions (remember the fall Naomi took on the runway…ouch!)of Vivienne Westwood are making their way to San Francisco for the exhibition Vivienne Westwood: 36 Years in Fashion. The exhibition will be showing between March 3rd-June 10th at the de Young Museum in Golden Gate Park and will be the only North American venue of the international tour.

The exhibition which will showcase more than 150 garments and accessories, from the gloriously elegant to the rebelliously provocative. The work, created over 36 years, encompasses styles from the street style of the 1970s to grand ball gowns whose designs were influenced by historical art and dress, to more recent exploration of pattern-cutting techniques and socio-political critiques.

The designs of Miss Westwood are seriously a piece of fashion history. Don’t miss out on this show! I’m sure after I visit the exhibition I’ll probably be singing the same tune as Gwen and wishing I was a Rich Girl ;)
