They’re Back…

After taking a break from Hollywood’s young starlets last season, Miuccia Prada, has nabbed Kirsten Dunst for Miu Miu’s next spring campaign. WWD reports the actress finished the shoot over the past week in Los Angeles with photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott.Although WWD thinks, “Dunst’s stardom in the United States should give the fast-growing brand a boost as it expands in America, opening boutiques on 57th Street in New York and Rodeo Drive in Los Angeles early next year.”I’m going to have to disagree.First. NOBODY went to see her in Marie Anoinette and am I the only one who is so sick of Mary Jane’s whining ass. I mean, when is she going to figure out that boy is Spider-Man. Also, and I hate to admit it, La Lohan’s ads for Miu Miu were pretty good and I don’t see Miss Dunst upstaging “oh it was the black guy” this Spring.Plus, with Victoria Beckham (an actual fashion icon) fronting the Marc Jacobs campaign next season, no one will be paying attention to Kirsten and her two toned lips for Miu Miu…Source

Naughty or Nice?

Wednesday, November 28th, 2007

That is the question. I like to think there’s a little bit of both in everybody - it creates a balance. I am a giant Bijules NYC fan and I always love what Jules creates but when I saw this Nail Wrap this morning I almost fell out of my chair. I’ve seen vintage ones (ala The Goods!), and I’ve seen newer ones online that look like monster claws. Leave it to Bijules NYC to create one that is “vixen” and “lady” all at once. I cannot tell you how much I love this and I’m not lying when I tell you that within 3 seconds of seeing it I called Jules up herself to tell her that I would be incomplete without one. The Nail Wrap is available now or at the Gen Art NY shopping event.Info: RiotttImage: Bijules NYC

Kaws x CDG Bags & Tees

Wednesday, November 28th, 2007

A while back, M.I.S.S. Busy Lady Baca reported on the Kaws x CDG wallets dropping at Colette. Just in time for the holidays, Dover Street Market has the collection as well and, in addition, we have some pictures of the tees and messenger bags. This collection is crazy - it’s not everyday that collabos come out as good as this one - and it’s one of those things that I really feel I need in my life. Lucky for us, you can purchase online here. Whether it’s a gift for someone else, or for yourself, this is guaranteed to make the recipient very happy. Happy Shopping!Image & Info: Dover Street Market

Topshop’s First Manhattan Flagship Takes Over YRB

Wednesday, November 28th, 2007

rendering_topshop_soho.jpgA rendering of Topshop’s first U.S. store, to open in Manhattan in September.Topshop has announced its first news to step foot into the US back in 2006 and there has been continuous rumors on where the first location will land. According to WWD, Topshop’s first Manhattan store will be at 478 Broadway in SoHo, which is currently Yellow Rat Bastard. Topshop’s owner, Sir Philip Green has an option to take a 9,500-square-foot space on the building’s top floor to use as his U.S. office and said further store openings in America are likely to come sooner rather than later. Expect the first Topshop/Topman unit in September, he is planning two more Manhattan stores, as well as flagships on the West Coast, and other units in cities including Las Vegas, Miami and Boston.

The new Topshop stores in the U.S. will be a minimum of 20,000 square feet and they all will be flagships. “I don’t want hundreds of little stores in the U.S. They all have to make economic sense,” he said. The Broadway flagship will cover 40,000 square feet over three floors — basement, ground floor and first floor — and Green said he’s hoping to preserve the “spirit” of the brand’s iconic Oxford Circus flagship. Green said he and his team are mulling the design for the Broadway store, but there likely will be a spiral staircase in addition to escalators, and customers in the basement will be able to view the two upper floors. He also has no plans to advertise in the U.S. as of yet, although there likely will be two or three events next year to mark the flagship’s opening.
