If I Was A Rich Girl: Wheels & Rides

Thursday, May 29th, 2008

A girl’s gotta get around, right? If I was a rich girl, I’d have a different car for each day of the week and a bicycle for leisurely rides. What could be better than a Chanel bike? Luxury at its very best. As far as the cars go, I love sporty cars, especially old ones, so I’d have to have a Corvette roadster. The Mercedes G Wagon would be great for long trips or when you’ve got some friends along for the ride. The collection wouldn’t be complete without a convertible - the Alfa Romeo spider - my favorite of all the “topless” cars. These are just a few of my favorites but I could see myself driving each of these - sunglasses on and long scarf blowing in the wind . . .

My Two Cents: The Prettiest Best Sounding Ad Ever

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008

I was watching Top Chef last night and I had the pleasure of viewing an iTunes ad that I have never seen before.  The ad features Coldplay and promotes their new album called Viva La Vida out on June 17th.  I instantly recognized Chris Martin’s voice, but what really did it for me was the visuals.  It was beautiful.  Graphically, it moved with the artists and illustrated the music but, most importantly, was still recognizable as an Apple product.  I could go on and on about how pretty it was but you should just see for yourself if you already haven’t.  And for your Coldplay fans, if you go to iTunes now, you can pre-order Viva La Vida now.

Knitta: Bombing The City With Yarn

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008

knitta

We’ve all seen graffiti in our cities but I just heard about a new “type” of graf - one that involves yarn instead of paint.  Knitta started in 2005 as a collective of knitters who were frustrated by their unfinished knitting projects.  Their frustration grew into “a tag crew of knitters, bombing the inner city with vibrant, stitched works of art, wrapped around everything from beer bottles on easy nights to public monuments and utility poles on more ambitious outings.”  They’ve been around the world spreading their knit message across the streets of Paris, New York and San Francisco.  Check out their site and see all the places around the world that they’ve “bombed.”

Sex & The City NYC Premier

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008

sex and the city ny premier
Last night marked the NY premier of Sex and the City, the much anticipated movie that will most definitely showcase beautiful clothes and spur a multitude of trends. The 4 leading ladies dazzled in varying shades of neutral metallics from silver, gold, ivory and gun metal black. Ms. Field didn’t shy away from color in a purple metallic ensemble paired with black, and of course her fire engine red locks. I think it’s funny that they all opted for super-shine. I wonder if the actresses knew the iconic stylist would be opting for disco metallic?

I love that they had a pink carpet for their premier (as did M.I.S.S. Crew for our 2nd Birthday Party) - what can we say, great minds think alike. I am super excited about seeing this movie but I have to express my distaste and frustration that Fergie is the artist behind the song for the movie. I don’t think that she has the most talent in the singing department and her taste level is questionable. That said, I won’t let the song ruin it for me and I’ll just plug my ears and look at all the pretty clothes.

Louis, Louis! More Richard Prince x Louis Vuitton

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008

louis vuitton richard prince

This past Spring, Louis Vuitton released a line of bags designed by artist Richard Prince that featured Prince’s trademark joke paintings featuring silly oneliners and swirls and hints of color that looks like the canvas has been lightly tie-dyed (original story here). Well, there’s more of the sugary-sweet looking bags. To commemorate Prince’s first solo exhibition in the U.K., Louis Vuitton is releasing a limited edition bag. “The 50 ostrich and canvas Jamais bags — numbered and signed by the artist and featuring a smudged and freckled take on the house monogram — will be sold exclusively at Vuitton’s Sloane Street store in London during Prince’s solo “Continuation” show at the Serpentine [Gallery] June 26 to Sept. 7.” At a hefty price tag of $17,800, this bag will merely remain a piece of eye candy that I will admire from afar.

Limited Edition Dresses From Zachary’s Smile

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008

While heading into my appointment at Zachary’s Smile in NYC, I was immediately taken back by the dresses in their window. Simply beautiful and irresistible. I have been collecting and rocking wax block print garments for awhile so I was instantly drawn to these. Upon further investigation I came to discovered that these lovelies are some of the latest offerings from Zachary’s Smile signature collection. The fabrics are traditional wax block prints from the Cote d’Ivorie or Ivory Coast located in West Africa. Each pattern is a limited edition print and only 2-3 dresses can be made of each print. Prices range from $268-$298 and are available at both Zachary’s Smile locations in NYC and select Anthropologie Stores. I am contemplating making a purchase!! See all the styles and some select fabrics after the jump!

Mama’s Kitchen: Garlic Knots & White Pizza

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008

mamas kitchen garlic knots

One of the first recipes I did on Mama’s Kitchen almost 2 years ago was garlic knots - a NY pizza place staple. They’re so yummy and easy to make, and I’ve received so many requests for them, so I decided to make them again. Since I was making a pizza place staple, I decided to also make some homemade pizza. I made white pizza which doesn’t have sauce and is “white” because of the ricotta and mozzarella that’s on it. The pizza recipe is simple, and the best thing about it, you can improvise and add your own toppings. With these two recipes under your belt, you can have your own homemade pizza party!
