As long as I’ve been reading fashion magazines, I’ve seen lists of what’s “in” and “out.” I’ve always wondered what made the people writing the lists authorities on what is hot or not but I always took them with a grain of salt and read them more for amusement than for fashion advice. Today, on The Moment Blog, I came across the funniest “In & Out” list I’ve ever seen. It was created by Chris Moukarbel as part of his current art exhibit, appropriately named, IN/OUT. I was happy to find that snapping was “in” and clapping was “out,” because I’ve been known to randomly start snapping to the music. Really, I’m not kidding - just ask the interns - they make fun of me for it.
In4mation is shipping out it’s women’s Fall 08 collection next month but we have a sneak peak of all the goodness that’s to come. The collection features hoodies, sweaters, tops, pants and skirts in fabrics like wool, cotton and tweed. The color palette features blacks and greys with pops of yummy sounding colors like butternut (yellow), blue maize (turqoise), purple and borscht (deep reddish purple). The sweaters look really cozy and the wool pants look really comfortable - almost a “real pant alternative” to my favorite - sweatpants. The colors form geometric patterns that run throughout the line and are also featured on some of the graphic tees. Check out detail shots of the cut & sew collection and some of the graphics for tees after the jump!
Everytime I see this commercial I want to start dancing!! All I have to say is that my dorm room was barely large enough to fit my bed and a desk. These ladies are livin’ large!
Lately, I’ve been seeing so much Olympic-inspired product on the web, and news on how preparations are going in Beijing, but not so much on the actual games. This week I was flipping through Time Magazine and noticed that they have a piece on 100 Olympic athletes to watch. There are a number of women on that list, from many countries, playing many different sports. These are all ladies who are “making history” in their own sport and their stories are inspiring. To read more about these incredible athletes check out the piece here.
It’s that time of year when the pimps come to town - the Sneaker Pimps! They’re stopping in LA on Friday, August 1st and as always, they have a great lineup of liver performers including Public Enemy!! Also, if you haven’t had a chance to check out Craig Wetherby’s photos, some of his work will be up at the show. Don’t forget to make a note of the new location at Element.
I just saw these shoes and I’m very sad that they probably won’t come in my size but I had to post about them because they are amazing. Only 168 pairs made worldwide, these Converse Chuck Taylors are not your ordinary All Stars - they’re made from the leather of vintage leather jackets. I especially love the zipper details along the laces and in the back. These hot rods drop on August 2nd only at Undefeated.
Double Punch is hosting special limited engagement with San Francisco artist, Nate (N8) Van Dyke, with the art of his new mini comic, PAY DAY, featuring DUTCH, the bank robbin’ chimp. The Pay Day figure is available in several colorways and was made in conjunction with Upper Playground. This one day event will include original and concept art from the comic and the signing of his new vinyl figure, produced by double punch.
In a couple of months, I’ll be moving out of my tiny studio and into a grown-lady place (aka a 1-2 bedroom)! After the initial freak-out of having to pay more for a larger place, I started to daydream about all the new furniture possibilities…plus I get to bring more of my records up from my parent’s house! So to my pleasant pleasant surprise, I came across this sophisticated and very sustainable milk crate furniture! Perfect for this little record fiend!
These pieces make me want to say F-words! Funky! Friendly! Fun! Functional! Hehe. Yea…sorry. Total geek-out but I had to share!
As a grown-ups we should take full advantage of being able to personalize our lives and not always feel like we have to default to Ikea (not hating on them at all!). Plus it keeps life interesting to change up a routine and do some DIY!

Back in 2005, a friend introduced me to Swedish electronic-jazz duo, Koop and I was immediately captivated by their dynamic sound. Fun and uplifting, their pairing of grooves and vocals by Yukimi Nagano made me want to dance on clouds!
As I was recently revisiting the Koop album Waltz for Koop, I couldn’t help but wonder why Yukimi Nagano isn’t in every magazine and music hype blog. She’s beautiful, beyond talented, driven…wasn’t caught smoking crack cocaine on video and I hear she’s in a healthy relationship with Swedish indie folk singer-songwriter José González (who is not incarcerated and probably never has been).
*Sigh* One can only hope that one day, the media will give actors and musicians with morals and good judgment some shine. For now, enjoy the voice of Yukimi Nagano featured on two Koop tracks.
Yay for YouTube!
