See more shop picts and some of my come ups after the jump!

Stills from the film The Wizard of Oz. Sketches of the ruby slippers from left to right: Jimmy Choo, Betsey Johnson, Moschino, L.A.M.B. by Gwen Stefani and Sergio Rossi.
Next year is the 70th anniversary of The Wizard of Oz, and to commemorate the anniversary Warner Brothers Consumer Products has enlisted Swarovski and 19 designers to design their take on Dorothy’s ruby slippers. The designers include A. Testoni, Abaeté, Alberta Ferretti, Betsey Johnson, Botkier, Christian Louboutin, Diane von Furstenberg, Giuseppe Zanotti, Jimmy Choo, L.A.M.B. by Gwen Stefani, Lisa Pliner, Manolo Blahnik, Moschino, Oscar de la Renta, Roger Vivier, Sergio Rossi, Stuart Weitzman, Tibi and Tuleh. All of the designs will include Swarovski crystals and will be unveiled September 4th in the windows of Saks Fifth Avenue. The shoes will take a tour and make several stops including Art Basel in Miami. The ruby slippers will be auctioned off and the proceeds will benefit the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation. The Wizard of Oz is one of my favorite movies and I cannot wait to see this collection! I hope they make their way to San Francisco!
Earlier this year NYC based, Foley & Corinna, opened up shop in the City of Angeles. Bringing their stylish taste of hand selected vintage and signature designed handbags and apparel to LA’s Melrose street. Make sure to hit up this sample sale this weekend…it is one not to miss!
The other day, I got a surprise message in my inbox from a gorgeous lady named Nena. Inside were pictures of fabulous earrings - bamboo style made of richly-patterned fabrics - that she makes herself. After being floored by the craft(wo)manship, I clicked on her Myspace page and saw that this talented lady has so much more to offer than the few pictures of accessories she included. Check out my favorite of her wares after the jump…
Whether it’s Audrey or Coco, when I think of either of those fashion icons, I think of pearls and the elegance that they exude. They are so simple and classic though, that sometimes they get a bad rap and can look too “good girl” or boring. I recently saw the pearl confections by jewelry designer Husam el Odeh and I was instantly excited. He’s taken the ubiquitous pearl and done some extraordinary things with them. He’s made hoop earrings out of them and attached long strands to combs (to insert in your hair) and collars. My favorite by far are his ear cuffs that he created in collaboration with Marios Schwab, that are meant to be worn behind the ear. They are elegant pieces of jewelry that outline the outer part of your ear - very sexy! They’re at once a nod to the classic, but so new, so different, that there is no way these pearls can ever be boring. You can view his other styles online on Husam el Odeh’s website. With Karl Lagerfeld on his client list, I can only wonder if the 2 would do a project for Chanel????
Richie Rich keeps his eyes to the sky as he marches down his newly paved path!!! The Ex-Heatherette designer is flying solo, not only for his own fashion line, Rox and Riley, but straight into the Music Biz. Soaring full force, Rich will be dropping his first ever, compilation album, entitled Celebutante! Known as the ‘Club Kid’, he gathers artists to join in his scene including Scissor Sisters, Madonna, and Lil’ Mama . . . just to name a few. Keep a look out for the album that is expected to hit stores in September. But thats not all folks. Richie takes the name, Celebutante, and gives it to his new collection he’s designing, exclusively, for Hot Topic. That’s right! Anticipate it.
Now for his up and coming, shoe line, Rox and Riley, here’s a peak into the line’s launch party:
Melody Ehsani is a girl after my own wallet - she likes her earring big and her heels higher! She’s taken bamboo earrings to new heights and her jewelry has been worn by leading ladies such as Rihanna, Alicia Keys, and Ciara. Her stilettos are not for the shy, but for ladies who know what they want, and aren’t afraid to get it. Not only does she make beautiful accessories, her purpose is noble:
My style is inspired by paradox, controversy, justice and pushing the envelope in showing that you truly can’t judge a book by its cover. I design to upset the equilibrium. I design to inspire. I design to serve. I design because I was created to do so. A portion from each pair of Ehsani shoes purchased will go towards the advancement and education of women in our society.
Check out Melody’s site, blog and myspace. And, lucky for you, she sells her stuff online. I had a hard time picking pieces to feature here because I loved so many of them. The cheetah print Swarovski crystal bamboos are insane! She also does 3-finger rings that you can customize “id” style.
Check out some other favorites after the jump . . .
I had the honor and pleasure of celebrating Maritez & David’s wedding this past Saturday in Oakland. I love weddings because it’s an excuse for me to dress like a girl for a change.
