Thursday, June 5th, 2008

As you probably know, M.I.A. came to town a couple of weeks ago. See our write-up of the show here. Local favorite, Hottub, was the opening act and I had the opportunity to style out my girls in the band. We got to the venue at 4 p.m. and rocked it until midnight…and then the after party. It was a long day but the most fun ever! Wanted to share with you some of the behind the scenes action and what the ladies wore. Get a detailed look at their looks at The Goods! and make sure to peep tons more picts after the jump!

Women Making History: Claw Money

Thursday, March 27th, 2008

Last Summer, THE most talked about shoe was the Claw Money x Nike Vandal Hi…and rightly so! The legendary graff writer introduced the world not only to a well-designed shoe (the Vandal Hi had been so slept on by modern designers prior to this release!) but also to a design force to be reckoned with!

Claw Money was born in Queens and raised in Long Island. After dropping out of the Fashion Institute of Technology, Claw began bombing with legendary writers and founded graff crew PMS. Claw has worked as a fashion stylist for Korn, Ice-T, Ice Cube, and Guns N’ Roses, and has styled for Nike, adidas, Sector Watches, and Guinness. She launched Claw Money, her signature clothing line, in the spring of 2002. Fashion editor of SWINDLE magazine, Claw is also co-branding with EckoRed International, Kidrobot and Hasbro, and BPMW. Featured in the 2005 documentary Infamy, Claw has also been seen in Autograf: New York City’s Graffiti Writers by Peter Sutherland (powerHouse Books, 2004), Supreme Quality and Enamelized by Roger Gastman (Gingko Press, 2005 and 2004, respectively), and has written her own book, Bombshell: The Life and Crimes of Claw Money (powerHouse Books). She’s been featured in countless magazines around the world. She lives and works in New York City.

More on this history making, lady after the jump!

Sweatpant Diaries: All things comfy, funny, or just down right fabulous

Thursday, February 28th, 2008

sweatpantdiaries1.jpgSweatpants.  Are you a lover or a hater?  I, by far, have been a lover since day one. Sweatpants & sneakers have been a staple in my wardrobe for as long as I can remember.  Perhaps it all started when I was about 6 yrs old, dancing around my living room, being hypnotized by the fleece & lycra induced trance coming off the TV as I watched my favorite show, FAME.

Ok, so back to my love of sweatpants.  I love them.  I know there are ladies out there that are with me on this.  I have a wide variety– some a bit expensive (no, not Juicy Couture), some basics, some that I actually exercise in, some vintage Nike & Adidas, and of course my “go-to” pair.  The possibilities are quite endless in my opinion.  I have always been a fan of mixing athletic wear with random pieces— dresses, skirts, woven shirts, LV bags, Goodwill goodies….whatever.   Stella McCartney for Adidas, Y3,  L.A.M.B, Ralph…are just a few examples of labels that do an amazing job at taking the basic sweatpant to the next level.   And, boy, do I love them for it.

adidas by Stella McCartney fall 2007 Preview

Friday, March 23rd, 2007

img_8363.jpg

Every season adidas by Stella McCartney introduces a new cateogry, last week we got a sneak peak at the new Dance category for Fall ‘07. I dropped by the adidas for Stella McCartney fall preview last week and I almost wanted to try on all the gear. As always I wasn’t disappointed of what I saw, Stella McCartney never fails to be chic, even in performance gear. If I was to pick my favorite category in this collection, I’d have to say Wintersports. The outerwear, accessories and boots are so hot, I am def feelin’ all the pieces. The new Wintersport boots reminds me a lot of a previous seasons, if you missed out on those this is your chance to cop a similar pair (I think I might need an extra pair!). Also, if you luv skiing, the new Wintersport outerwear are all equipped with The RECCO Avalanche Rescue System , its a new technology they’ve introduced this season also. Breaking from her “traditional” colors, she added bright colored accents in subtle ways on zipper pulls, inner lining of outwear, tank tops, short shorts, etc. I LUV it, especially on the outerwear, it brings out the flava! One thing that I know all of you guys will dig because I DO is the heart shaped carabiner, but as stated on the carabiner itself, “NOT FOR CLIMBING”, they’re for looks only…sooo nice!

I luv how simple the clothes look but they’re very detailed and can be worked in many different ways. Tennis clothes can be very boring, but not for Stella McCartney, she switched it up and created scallop collars and edges to bring the feminine side of you out. As a strict vegetarian herself, Stella McCartney does not use fur or leather in her designs, going even further she introduced two Organic Cotton pieces to test the waters. The Fall ‘07 collection is set to release on August 10th at the adidas Performance stores. All in all, you will not be disappointed in her Fall collection, peep the preview at nitro:licious

adidas by Stella McCartney fall 2007 - Dance

Wednesday, March 14th, 2007

smc_adidas_dance.jpg

After the introduction of Gym Yoga from the adidas by Stella McCartney Spring/Summer ‘07 collection , for Fall ‘07, she introduces Dance. Modern dance is the inspiration of the line’s aesthetic. As always, her adidas line is stylish and highly functional, the high-performance fabrics contrast soft mattes with shiny textures, emphasizing layering. Every season there is at least one new category introduced, to ensure the Stella fans, the expansion continues on till at least 2010, when Stella’s contract with adidas ends. Look out for the new collection as it hits about 600 stores in August and the dance category wholesales from $40.50 for leggings to $100 for a woven top. I def look forward to seeing her Fall ‘07 collection, she never fails to impress me, I adore Stella McCartney. Stay tuned for more…via wwd
