The ladies of Worship Worthy are releasing a small collection of graphic tees, a hoodie and leggings for Fall 2008 with product hitting shelves at the end of September. We’re excited to see the new line! I got a promo tee at the last M.A.G.I.C. tradeshow and it’s one of my favorite tees. I do have to say that I am surprised that women would be perpetuating the image of a woman bound and powerless - it’s so sad to see women fall into the misogynistic communication patterns that men have established rather than trying to blaze new paths. Regardless of that, I think that the clothes will be dope and I’m excited for the launch.
In4mation is shipping out it’s women’s Fall 08 collection next month but we have a sneak peak of all the goodness that’s to come. The collection features hoodies, sweaters, tops, pants and skirts in fabrics like wool, cotton and tweed. The color palette features blacks and greys with pops of yummy sounding colors like butternut (yellow), blue maize (turqoise), purple and borscht (deep reddish purple). The sweaters look really cozy and the wool pants look really comfortable - almost a “real pant alternative” to my favorite - sweatpants. The colors form geometric patterns that run throughout the line and are also featured on some of the graphic tees. Check out detail shots of the cut & sew collection and some of the graphics for tees after the jump!
We’re happy to introduce the newest ladies line on the block - Seduce and Destroy, a line produced by a Boston-based design team, is as much a battle cry as it is a clothing line. It represents the confidence, prowess, and empowerment that women everywhere should utilize to reach their goals. S&D uses a solid design aesthetic with a provocative edge. You can find the line at Lab Boston and you can order over the phone if you’re not in the area by calling 617.395.4330.
Rogue Status, a streetwear line that takes its inspiration from all things military recently released it’s new women’s collection. They do a great job of taking military iconography and themes and creating interesting t-shirt graphics. The girls’ tees explore the same kind of themes and imagery and also feature some logo tees. My favorite by far is a tee with a paper screened on with my favorite four-letter word written repeatedly on it. Check it out after the jump . . .
NEW COLLAB ALERT! This time MISSBEHAVE teamed up with NAILSDID for a limited-edition tee. It’s super suave, soft and purple, with the signature graphic MISSBEHAVE logo on it. You can match your mani/pedi. And you know what else? YOU CAN WIN ONE!!!! If you want to be amongst the fortunate few to cop, Just send MISSBEHAVE a mixtape and they promise to personally mail a tee to you on the spot. The mixtape has to woo them. Please make it a great since we’ll be jammin to it at the office, and people will be judging you. No pressure, need their street address? Find it here.
The ladies are rocking the boy-dominated boat of streetwear. Leah from MOB recently did an interview with BKRW where she talks about what it’s like to work with Colette and her new upcoming collection that will include denim, tops, outerwear and accessories. Take a look for yourself and see what Leah has to say . . .
Also just in - Mama was interviewed for Legend Magazine and talks about what it’s like to run a women’s line in such a male-dominated industry. Read the full interview here.
If you were reading M.I.S.S. back in March, then you’re familiar with our “Women Making History” feature where we interview talented ladies who are paving paths and doing great things. We know that women make history throughout the year so we decided to make this an ongoing feature to highlight ladies that work hard behind the scenes. Don’t worry, we’ll have a different project for you next March to honor Women’s History Month.
This week, we are featuring Mel from Borougbred, a ladies’ streetwear line.
I had the pleasure of meeting Mel a few years back at the MAGIC tradeshow. I loved her line from the moment I heard the name, BoroughBred, and she makes some of the best ladies’ graphic tees around. A true NYer at heart, her love of being “borough bred” shines through in all of her work. Take a look and learn . . .
Check out pics of her tees and beautiful son after the jump . . . (more…)
Cultist just received new Claw Money pieces and they’re super cute. The bustier/corset is very clever and I love the PMS tee - it’s very “I am woman, hear me roar.” You can get the tops here. More pics after the jump. . . (more…)
