London emporium Dover Street Market has recently updated its window and added some new spaces featuring Lanvin, Salvatore Ferragamo, Yves Saint Laurent, Henry Holland and Hussein Chalayan. The Ferragamo space showcases 80 years of archive pieces from the Creations Collection by Salvatore Ferragamo - so exciting!

Yves Saint Laurent opens its first ever stand-alone “Edition 24″ space at Dover Street Market in a space designed by the renowned theatrical set designer Michael Howells. New Autumn/Winter ‘08-’09 designs are highlighted in the Lanvin, Henry Holland and Hussein Chayalan spaces. One of the more interesting spaces is One Plus One Eve Democracy - Medical Vintage, a new collaboration space featuring Christian Lacroix Haute Couture and Katerina Jebb’s personal vintage collection. Finally, one of the newest additions to DSM is the jewelry line of Tom Binns. His first collection, “Pearls in Peril” is the first of many collections that will be exclusive to Dover Street Market and I love what I’ve seen. Think tons of pearls layered with even more faux-diamond jewels. It’s a little bit drunken prom queen - but in a good way. Binns won the CFDA Fashion Award for Accessories Designer of the Year in 2006 so I’m excited to see his new collections. See the jewels and photos of the designer spaces after the jump . . .

Hint Magazine - Drawing Blood

hint magazine drawing blood
Hint Magazine featured some high-end looks by Givenchy, Lanvin, Yves Saint Laurent and more in an illustrated multi-media presentation called Drawing Blood. The feature is illustrated by kuanth and the flash design was done by RenderMonkey. You can choose the music that plays in the background as well. The illustrations feature wide-eyed girls (very Blythe-esque with different colored eyes) and creatures wearing the must-have pieces of the coming season. You can watch Drawing Blood here.

Lanvin Capsule Denim Collection with Acne Jeans

Monday, June 16th, 2008

lanvin acne jeans

Lanvin has teamed up with Acne Jeans to launch a denim capsule collection this November at Barney’s and Bergdorf Goodman.  The collection includes the ubiquitous “jean” as well as “dress, tuxedo jacket, belted trench, [and] blouson,” as well as accessories, including “denim bags, stilettos, earrings and even medallion necklaces.”  When asked how it was to work with Acne, Alber Elbaz the designer of Lanvin stated:  “I was very pleased when I started working with Acne. They’re just young, energetic sexy Swedes and our partnership really wasn’t about signing hardcore contracts, it was really just about creating about something that was mutually fun and creative.”  As you can imagine, the collection is pricey.  Jeans are over $500, coats start at $1200 and accessories start over $1500.  Start putting away those pretty pennies for the drop in November.

New Spaces & Items at Dover Street Market

Dover Street Market is one of my favorite boutiques in the world. Yes, it’s that amazing. How could it not be? It’s the brain child of Rei Kawakubo of Comme des Garçons fame. One of the cool things about DSM is the space and how it’s laid out. There are 6 floors and each have their own theme and the spaces within each floor are being constantly updated. DSM recently revamped 2 sections: Lanvin by Alber Elbaz and the Bookspace: “Opposition: British Alternative Culture of the 1980’s,” by Angela Hill. They’ve also updated their shop with new product from Number (N)ine, Undercover, Chloe Sevigny for Opening Ceremony, Rodarte, Comme des Garçons, Comme des Garçons Homme Plus, Junya Watanabe, Junya Watanabe MAN, Tao Comme des Garçons, Comme des Garçons Homme Deux, Ganryu, Christopher Kane, Sara Lanzi, Gareth Pugh, Marios Schwab and Toga. Impressive line-up if I ever saw one. If you’re not in London now, be sure to make a mental note about DSM - this is a definite must-see for any London trip.

Friday, November 30th, 2007

This has been a LONGGGG week for me! I had to work on a research paper and all sorts of boring things. I hope everybody has nice and relaxing weekend, because I know I’m in desperate need of one! Lanvin New Patent Shopper

Wednesday, November 21st, 2007

lanvin_one.jpglanvin_2.jpgHow fabulous is this pink patent tote by Lanvin?Bold color is huge this Fall, and what better a piece to brighten up your bag wardrobe than with this pretty-in-pink tote. All of the handbags and shoes that Alber Elbaz has presented us with this season have been completely snob-worthy, and I can’t wait to see what he has up his sleeves for Spring!Sure. This is a very trendy bag and it will probably be out of style next season, but how do you pass on something as charming and sweet as this? The detachable charm and chain handle are so adorable, and they really spruce up a rather simple design. Since it’s 13 x 15, you’ll have quite a bit of room for keys, cell phone, ipod, and whatever else you need to get you by throughout the day.At Barneys $1600.Source
