M.I.S.S. Vegas Review: LeSportsac at Pool Tradeshows

Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008

One of the booths that we were most excited to stop and see was LeSportsac. We love LeSportsac and we were so excited to see what new goodies they have lined up for Spring/Summer 2009. LeSportsac was founded in 1974 and, since some time has passed, the brand is preparing itself for a new generation of loyal fans. They’re offering more prints, more silhouettes and more options in exclusivity and price-point. Some new silhouettes they’ve added is a yoga mat bag (my prayers answered!), laptop cases and covers, totes, belt bags and cosmetics bags. In addition to lots of new prints, LeSportsac is coming out with patents for those of us that like our bags shiny.

My Two Cents: LeSportsac Needs New Ads, Pronto!

Tuesday, May 20th, 2008

I’ve seen these LeSportsac ads for some time now and I finally had to come out and say how much I hate them. Not only are they not aesthetically pleasing, they are downright scary. It’s really upsetting to me because I am a long-time LeSportsac customer and a huge fan of their product but these ads make me want to throw it all way (ok, maybe I’m exaggerating just a tad). They have great collections, work with amazing guest designers and then they mess it all up with this invisible person ad campaign. Perhaps they thought it was a clever way of showing the product but here’s some free advice: Your product is wonderful, please let it speak for itself rather than using weird Photoshop techniques. I tore this ad out of the new Teen Vogue - a full page ad runs around $20,000 last time I checked so LeSportsac can chalk this ad up to a colossal waste of money since I don’t know anyone who would want to run out and buy a bag after seeing this:

LeSportsac , the leader of chic and functional handbags, and popular culture and lifestyle magazine founded by Shepard Fairey and Roger Gastman, Swindle , will host a party with Fafi to celebrate the Fafi for LeSportsac collection. Fafi, the fashion forward French underground artist, used her famous cartoon-esque nature to create a whimsical print exclusively for LeSportsac. The limited edition of handbags, accessories and travel pieces will hit stores this week.

The Fafi for LeSportsac collection blends together the colorful, comic book sensibility of Fafi with the hip style of LeSportsac. The “Fafiness” print brings to life the tale of a girl “who was looking for the magic in her life and discovers the tree that blooms LeSportsac bags.” The billboard on Lafayette and Bond Street featuring this exclusive Fafi for LeSportsac print will be unveiled the same day of the event.

WHAT:
Guests will be able to meet and mingle with the artist and celebrate the collection while DJ’s spin, Kronenbourg 1664 Beer and Zygo cocktails are served. DJ’s include the “king of bounce,” Ghislain Poirier and French music elitist Melody Nelson .

Stella McCartney for Target Australia

a wool/cashmere jacket and jumper by Stella McCartney for Target

This is definitely getting outta hand, but I’m luvin’ it (haha!), here comes another collabo with Stella McCartney , this time for Target . Wow she’s really trying to get her name “out there”, first the news broke out about her collabo with LeSportsac and now Target, I wonder what’s next? But don’t get too excited unless you’re an Australian women, this collection is exclusively for them! What about all of the non-Australian residents…sigh I really hope it will hit all the Target stores…who knows!

SMC has created a limited-edition, 42 piece collection for Target, prices range from $39.99 for a t-shirt to $199.99 for a trench coat (very reasonable pricing). The Target range will include a trench coat, tailored jacket and pants, shirts, a day dress and an embroidered cocktail frock. I’m getting kinda bored with everyone doing the trench, I know trench coats are a staple in the closet but still. The best trench I got was from her collabo with H&M , I have both colors hehe. The collection will go on sale in selected Target stores nationally starting March 12th. We’ll just have to wait patiently till we get more news about this collection. via The Daily Telegraph

Stella McCartney for LeSportsac in Spring 2008

Monday, January 29th, 2007

smc_lesportsac.jpg

It’s all about the collaborations nowadays, everyone likes to get designer stuff at an affordable price. After the successful collaboration Stella McCartney had with H&M , she has joined forces with LeSportsac to release a series of 30 to 40 styles of limited edition bags to be launched in Spring 2008. The bags average at $200 to $250, the deal lasts up to 18 months and is renewable. This collection only sold at selective high-end department and specialty stores worldwide, including three Stella McCartney boutiques (NY & LA), and only five LeSportsac stores, no worries if you’re not near one, they will be available for purchase online. I can’t wait to see how this collection of bags will look like, hopefully its something fresh!

All the Rage: Proenza Schouler X Target

Friday, January 26th, 2007

These days in the fashion game it’s all about collabos. From the streetwear industry ( Mama X New ERA ) to the women’s ready-to-wear industry. In my opinion, collaborations between designers, artists, musicians, and companies are a win-win situation if done right. Remember when LeSportsac got with Gwen Stefani to do L.A.M.B .???
The current rage is all about Proenza Schouler for Target .

ps

For all you lucky NYC natives, the entire collection will be available at Opening Ceremony before it hits Target stores nation wide! More details after the jump… (more…)
