Female Sneaker Fiend Internship Guide

Friday, September 5th, 2008

Lori of Female Sneaker Fiend has been holding it down for the ladies who love sneakers from day one.  I remember stumbling upon her site a few years ago and it was like a ray of light shining down from the heavens.  If you haven’t been to Female Sneaker Fiend, it has everything you would ever want to know about kicks, and the ladies who love them.  Their newest feature is an internship guide - brilliant!  Lots of ladies love cool kicks but want to work in the game as well.  Well, here’s your chance to get some experience and pay some dues - internship style.  Check out the list of impressive positions ranging from FSF, Adidas, Nike, Puma, Keep and Reebok.  And, we’re on there as well, so if you want a piece of the action, get to it!

P.S. - Boston area ladies save the date!  FSF is hosting a party on September 20th - details coming soon!

Puma Cell Meio

Saturday, August 2nd, 2008

One of Puma’s newest releases for women includes the Cell Meio, with a dress shoe-inspired upper and Puma’s innovative new inverse duo-CELL technology visible on the forefoot and the heel, the Cell Meio is the perfect union of style and substance. The Cell Meio combines cutting-edge sport technology with good looks for a shoe that is as technologically advanced and as it is fashion-forward. Since you should never have to surrender fashion for function, the Cell Meio translates seamlessly from a killer workout at the gym to a swanky night out.

What I really like about this shoe is the technological advancement of it all. Here’s how it works: The Cell Meio’s full-length inverse duo-CELL technology is a twist on Puma’s widely used duo-CELL technology; cell cushioning units are relocated from the external midsole to the outsole and flipped upside down. Instead of responding as a single unit, each cell reacts independently to the ground (a smaller cell depresses into a larger cell with each step), creating a ride that’s tailored to both the terrain and the wearer’s foot strike. It sounds like you’re running on your own personal cloud.

The Cell Meio is available in men’s and women’s styles at PUMA Concept Stores nationwide and online at www.puma.com. Inspired by the Summer Games, Puma has released Cell Meio Metallic Crocs (green/gold, blue/yellow, and red/black) represents a PUMA-sponsored team - Jamaica, Sweden, and Morocco. The shoes feature the team colors, a faux-croc upper, and the country’s flag on the heel. Why do men get all the cool shoes?? Not fair! Just in case you’re lucky enough to fit into men’s sizes I’ve included pics for you after the jump . . . .

Video In My Backyard

Thursday, July 17th, 2008

Seems like making short films or videos is the new blogging. The newest video-based website we’ve come across is VIMBY - Video In My Backyard - “a video content company devoted to capturing young lifestyle and culture all over the nation.” They have videos covering music, fashion, cars, travel, action sports and night life. We checked it out and there’s definitely some good content - check out some of our favorites below.

Valentine’s Day Goodies: Kicks!

miss crew valentines day goodies

All the mushy, lovey-dovey scent in the air, doesn’t mean you can’t rock the hottest sneaks for the occasion! Leave your heels at home and switch it up this year ladies! NikePumaReebok and Vans have released their share of cuteness in time for Valentine’s Day. If you’re not into pink, think again, because the Nike Women’s Court Force High’s are pink enough to give you that sweet approach, without losing any swag. My fav’s would have to be the Reebok’s because they’re classics with a twist. They aren’t overly girly or Valentine’s Day-ish, which makes ‘em easier to wear on any other day. No matter which of these shoes you choose to wear this Valentine’s Day, you’re sure to get hit by one of Cupid’s arrows!!!

Most of the big sneaker brands have followed Nike’s lead as far as releasing holiday themed kicks is concerned. Puma is getting in on the action and has released two Valentine’s Day themed sneakers for the ladies, the full-grain leather and suede motorsport inspired Espera, and the suede upper court heritage Flipper. Both sneakers retail for $65, and are available right now at Puma.com.

Reebok has also released two hearty heart day sneakers this year. A classic Freestyle, and the first release of the women’s Pro Legacy Low, available now at Major DC.

High Snobiety reports that Reebok has released an international-only Valentine’s Day Freestyle, that is available at Caliroots. This shoe might be an international-only release now, but it certainly was not LAST YEAR when it dropped here in the US. Yeah, I caught them. On sale for $29.99. At V.I.M. I have eyes everywhere. Oops.
