I can’t think of a better way to get the weekend started them with this new mixtape: Santogold vs. Diplo. If this mix is any sign as to how the weekend could play-out you are in for some most epic adventures!!!! Save some energy for the dancefloor as this mix is most certainly gonna make you lean-with-it, rock-with-it, roll-with-it, stroll with it, put-your-hand-up-on-my-hip-with-it and perhaps even pop ‘n lock the electric boogaloo too. word.
Sharing is caring, download here.

When I first heard Santogold aka Santi White last year, her voice was definitely one I wanted to hear more of but her production was just as impressive. When I discovered that she had produced one of my favorite albums How I Do by Res, my respect for her sky-rocketed!
The pairing of these two ladies created one of the most amazing albums I’ve heard to date. How I Do is one of those albums that I can listen to from start to finish without skipping a track.
Rather than delve into the similarities of the two and the why-is-Res-so-slept-on cry, I’m reintroducing you to the amazing Res by sharing the video to Golden Boys.
Besides being a strong track, the colors and cinematography in this video are candy! Res is fierce in looks, vocals, and swagger! Check it:
What? You want more Res?
Download They Say Vision, another amazing track off How I Do, HERE…yup, free!
Visit The Official Res MySpace page and show this lady some much deserved respect.
A while back we noticed that Santogold had some tracks featured in the Bud Light Lime campaign. As I was watching Top Chef re-runs tonight I had the pleasure of waking from my commercial break to the sounds of Santogold. Turns out her music is featured in a new Ford commercial. You can view the commercial here:

Also, out now is an exclusive track made for Converse by Santogold, Pharrell and Julian Casablancas as part of a campaign that Converse put together called, Three Artists, One Song. The track is called “My Drive Thru” and has a contagious guitar riff and features the falsetto Pharrell is famous for, N.E.R.D. beats and Santogold’s ability to make any song a dance anthem. It’s a good representation of each of the artists and it’s cool to see how 3 diverse artists can come together to make 1 track without sacrificing their individuality or sound. There’s supposed to be a video out soon and the track will be available for exclusive download on Converse.com beginning Tuesday, June 10th. If you want to hear it now check out Sterogum - they are streaming the song online. If you like this project, you’re in luck because there is more music to this centennial campaign. Up next? Tracks with Kid Sister, YACHT, Bradford Cox, members of Gallows, Fiery Furnaces, Does It Offend You, Yeah?, and Care Bears on Fire. For more info on the project check here.

A few weeks back we reported that Santogold was releasing her debut self-titled CD. I finally got a chance to grab a copy this weekend and I’ve been listening to it non-stop since I got it. I love it when I get a CD that I can listen to all the way without skipping over less-likeable tracks and there is definitely NO skipping here. Each track is amazing and can stand on it’s own. When heard together, it’s genius. Santogold is a bit of an enigma so please don’t try pigeon-holing this lovely songstress into one category because it’s impossible - she defies categorization and has a sound that is uniquely her own. Her voice is different on each track: Seductive, demure, powerful and ready to kick your ass. The music is really catchy and has hints of many different genres including punk, trip hop, rock, electronica, ska, and new wave to name a few. Santogold is a refreshing change to the generic pop princesses that do re-mixes of popular songs and shake their asses (ahem, Fergie and crew). Santi White not only sings but she writes all of her music. She is even listed in some of the credits for production, mixing, instruments and engineering. She truly is an artist and an inspiration. If you love music, you will love Santogold. She will leave you wanting more. I give her 5 hearts out of 5.
Last week I represented in L.A. for M.I.S.S Crew at the release of the Claw Money X Boosted Mobile case collection held at Barracuda Los Angeles.

Claw did not dissapoint with this collection. The details on each piece feature the
signature “claw” and all have thick black and white stripes with gold chain graphics complete with gold charms and red accents, very fresh!
Congrats to Claw Money for another successful project!
Peeps more pics of the event after the jump…

Santogold’s self-titled debut album drops today! I can’t wait to hear it. Her music is so refreshing and feeds that part of you that wants a little bit of everything. Here’s a clip from MTV news where Santi describes her eclectic sound:
I was watching Top Chef, sprawled on the couch covered in cookie crumbs - my usual Wednesday night 10:15 pm steeze. Lately, it seems I can’t watch television without also working on my laptop - constantly multi-tasking. Anyway, I started blogging away during the commercial and all of a sudden I hear Santogold . . . on tv . . . in a beer commercial. I don’t really like beer (unless it’s Raspberry flavored), but I love Santogold and that commercial almost makes me want to try some Bud Light Lime just because they had the good sense to pick great music for their ad. And, great news for Santogold fans, the self-titled album drops in the U.S on April 29th! Stay tuned!
