Coming Attraction: British Knights

Thursday, June 19th, 2008

british-knights.jpg

After a temporary hiatus from the scene, it seems as though once popular sneaker brand, British Knights, is seamlessly making its way back into fashion.

They currently have an online store where their storied sneakers can be purchased as well as t-shirts that bare the company’s logo.

In addition to the throwback merch, the site boasts a gallery full of vintage ads and ask readers to send in stories of their fondest memories associated with the shoe.

As if  you could forget, the first M.I.S.S. downloadable calendar featured a lace pair of BK hi-tops. If only the new kicks, looked as cool. *sigh.

When Bad Sneakers Happen To Good People

Tuesday, June 17th, 2008

In case you’ve been living under rock, allow me to make one thing clear:We lurrrvvve sneakers here at M.I.S.S. Crew.

From metallic Nike hi-tops to vintage LA Gears, we’ve always had a weakness for finely crafted and well-designed kicks. And we know we’re not the only people with this problem.

So, we can understand why Vanessa Hudgens would be interested in crafting a song that pays homage to her favorite pair of sneakers. But - oh, my! - what was she thinking when she laid down her tragic vocals on her new single, Sneakernight.

Not only can she not sing (and that’s after all of the fancy production, yall), but the sneakers Vanessa and her video co-horts are wearing are pretty, uh, well, bad.

Keep Summer Collection Available Online

keep company
Keep Company has updated their online store to include their first hi-top, the Guerra, in an array of stripes and patterns perfect for hot summer days. Here’s how the ladies describe the Guerra model: “Inspired by an outing with writer, world traveler and raconteur Gigi Guerra, we made a shoe as sleek and slick as the lady herself. Hit the streets and stop complaining about ankle support.” Haha. I definitely love me some hi-tops and the Keep selection has a “so fresh and so clean” look to them that translate so well for the long days of summer. Check out the other colors and styles here.

Fake Nikes, anyone?

Friday, May 9th, 2008

While tourists won’t be able to buy knock-off Louis Vuitton and Goyard handbags on their summer trips to New York anymore, counterfeiters in Los Angelas are still to be reckoned with — branching out into the underground fake sneaker market.

On Monday, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers in LA  confiscated 18,560 pairs of fake Nike sneakers tightly compacted in two shipping containers that had just arrived from China.

Perpetuating as if the cargo was holding drainage pipeline fittings, the sneakers were soon discovered by Long Beach officers once they began their inspection.

Apparently, the Nike knock-offs were valued at $521,000, which is about 1.5 million dollars less if they would have been real.

The LA Times reports that shoes like this usually are “sold on the internet, in mom-and-pop stores or at swap meets.” But, if we can all be honest, do we really did the negative feedback on the Ebay sellers account to know Marc Jacobs never created $60 Air Force 1s with Nike? And with a green see-through tag hanging from a pair of cheap shoe laces?

Didn’t think so.
