vintage vans

The Lady G and I ventured out to the Vans Syndicate Exhibition in SF a week ago-ish (peep some par-tay action here). Seeing as it was a Vans event, I had to bust a move and rock some of the “Original Goods”. Nope these aren’t some rare-limited-hyper-tier0-color-way, these are just as I mentioned “Original Goods” circa the early, early 80’s. Peep the entire fit after the jump.

Uniqlo Does Manga

Thursday, April 24th, 2008

uniqlo
Japanese-based retailer Uniqlo has recently updated its Soho store paying homage to manga with a line of manga-inspired t-shirts and displays to match. The displays include manga characters on the windows, manga covered floors and fixtures and a rotating t-shirt carousel. It looks pretty cool and I enjoy it when retailers really commit to a story and follow through in the merchandising. All the little details count. The manga-inspired shirts are a nice twist on a lot of the comic-inspired stuff we’re seeing out there and gives you a chance to wear what you read.

UNIQLO’s New Concept Store & UT Projects

Wednesday, April 18th, 2007

UNIQLO is taking the world by storm with the quality, value, and variety of their clothing… from tees and sweaters to denim, their clothes uphold the japanese standard for quality and are offered in a ton of colors and styles.

Maintaining their position on top of the casual wear game, UNIQLO is opening a new concept store in Harajuku, Tokyo on April 28th that’s sure to cause a t-shirt frenzy. The store, UT (UNIQLO T-shirt) is the creation of Kashiwa Sato, Creative Director of UNIQLO, who had the vision of a futuristic convenience store for t-shirts. We all know UNIQLO likes to do it big, so expect a a ton of options.

To celebrate the opening of the new store, UNIQLO has launched the UT projects… a limited edition collection of t-shirts designed by reknowned artists, designers, photographers, and musicians. Collabos include: Terry Richardson, Nobuyoshi Araki, Kai Khune, Kim Jones, and many others. Only 1,000 unique tees will be available each year. Other collabos are in store with ECM records, The Evolution Stores in Soho and countless others.

Sketch of Dress by Alice Roi for Uniqlo

Uniqlo is teaming up with designers such as “Lutz & Patmos, Kino, Alice Roi, Phillip Lim and GVGV to design capsule collections for women as part of its spring Designer Invitation Project, which is being launched in conjunction with the SoHo store opening.” I guess the success of H&M and Target’s similar projects made this seem like the way to go. All I gotta say is, keep the inexpensive designer clothes coming! Read the full story after the jump . . .
